It has been an extremely fruitful April for the Nittany Lions on the recruiting trail. Penn State football has received seven commitments from players in the classes of 2024 and 2025 this month, including 2024 four-star lineman Garrett Sexton yesterday. And now on Tuesday, James Franklin added his second commitment in as many days, as top regional offensive lineman Eagan Boyer committed to the Nittany Lions.

Eagan Boyer is a consensus three-star prospect out of William Amos Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina. At 6-8, 260-pounds, Boyer is the 37th ranked offensive tackle in the class of 2024 and the 16th overall prospect in North Carolina according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Boyer had offers from several schools in the southeast, including Auburn, North Carolina, and Clemson.

Boyer received an offer from Penn State football in January. Family ties quickly shot James Franklin and the Lions up his big board, as his step-mother graduated from Penn State.

After a recent visit to Happy Valley, Eagan Boyer spoke very highly of James Franklin and the entire Penn State football program. “From a football perspective, I was really excited about the team meetings and the energy in them,” Boyer told On3. “Different groups going at each other. It was cool to see. Coach Franklin had a lot of energy around everything he was doing as well.”

Boyer joins Garret Sexton, the No. 30 offensive tackle in the country per 247Sports, as the second lineman to commit in as many days. The two join other top-end four-star offensive linemen: Cooper Cousins (No. 9 IOL) and Donovan Harbour (No. 8 IOL). Sexton’s commitment officially gives Penn State three top-60 offensive line commits in the 2024 class, all of which are some of the most sought-after linemen in the nation for this cycle.
