Penn State football set to host top transfer defensive lineman

The Penn State football team is looking to beef up their defensive line heading into 2024. On Tuesday defensive end Chop Robinson announced that he will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. But one of the areas the Nittany Lions need to bulk up in is the defensive tackle position. It appears that James Franklin and Deion Barnes are preparing to address those needs potentially in the transfer portal. 247sports Brian Dohn has announced that an official visit has been locked in for former Duke defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles to Penn State.

Aeneas Peebles entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer from Duke on November 27th. He is coming off of a career senior season with the Blue Devils. In 2024 Peebles accounted for 40 tackles and 4 sacks. He stands at 6’1 ” and 286 pounds and it appears there are multiple schools including the Penn State football team with serious interest in this addition.

It was first reported by Brian Dohn of 247sports that Peebles has locked in an official visit with the Nittany Lions. The date of his visit will be announced at a later date. But regardless this shows how the relationship is progressing and that Penn State is a serious consideration for Peebles.

Positive ties with Duke transfers

It wasn’t too long ago when the Penn State football team added defensive tackle Derrick Tangelo in the transfer portal ahead of the 2021 season. Tangelo was a Duke transfer who had an amazing single season in State College. During the 2021 season, Tangelo accounted for 29 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. He used that lone season to work his way onto the Atlanta Falcons for the 2022 preseason camp.
