Beaver Stadium is one of the largest stadiums in the United States. On Saturdays in the fall, you can find a sold-out crowd full of passionate Penn State football fans. The Nittany Lions have recently approved a renovation plan that will give Beaver Stadium a full facelift. However, 2026 recruiting prospect Jaziel Hart told a national media outlet that Penn State plans to add seats to exceed The Big House home of Michigan football.

Jaziel Hart is an unranked cornerback / wide receiver prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. He took an unofficial visit to Happy Valley on May 18th. One of his takeaways from his visit was a renovation component that has not been documented by the university at this time. Hart told Rivals an interesting renovation note following his Penn State football visit.

“Beaver Stadium holds 107,000 fans and sells out each game. They said they are adding more seats to be just one seat over Michigan.”

Whether this is pure speculation or reality, we will have to wait and see. Currently, Beaver Stadium ranks as the second largest stadium in the United States behind Michigan with a capacity of 106,572. The stadium also ranks as the fourth largest in the world.

What’s in scope for the Beaver Stadium renovation?

On May 21st, the Penn State Board of Trustees approved a $700 million renovation plan for Beaver Stadium. The goal for these new upgrades is to be completed by August 2027. With the expanded College Football Playoff, Penn State will have a chance of hosting a home playoff game in December. Part of the renovation work is to winterize the stadium.

On3 reported that there will be 15% more restrooms, 24 new elevators, 12 new escalators, and four-plus stair towers. The upgrade will also add 102 new point-of-sale stations, as well as a 21,00 sq. ft welcome center.
