The Penn State football team escaped a game we have seen them lose in past years. Given it was a bad Indiana team, the Nittany Lions found a to win, and when the 2023 season comes to an end that’s all that matters. We won’t remember the sloppy play or the lack of offense, we will remember that Penn State didn’t lose a winnable game. With that in mind, the strength of the schedule is a concern for this team moving forward. The entire season will come down to that home matchup with Michigan in a few weeks. That will be the only way the Nittany Lions can shoot up the AP Poll.
BREAKING: Penn State football leapfrogs in the AP Poll
Entering week 9 the Penn State football team was ranked the No. 10 school in the AP Poll. But after yesterday’s sloppy performance against Indiana, will the AP voters hold the Nittany Lions accountable? It was a great opportunity for this team to make a statement bounce-back win, however, they snuck away with a 33-24 victory over Indiana.
Around the country, we saw another undefeated team go down. The No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners lost to the unranked Kansas Jayhawks 38-33 in a wild Big 12 game. Which should aid the Nittany Lions in this context, but did the AP voters feel the need to bump this team up this week? It feels like beating Michigan is the only way Penn State will skyrocket in the rankings. Teams behind Penn State took care of business including No. 12 Ole Miss, No. 14 Notre Dame, No. 18 Louisville, and others. Keep in mind that the College Football Playoff rankings will be released for the first time in 2023 on Tuesday 10/31.
