As the countdown for the 2023 college football season continues, so does recruiting. The Penn State football team and James Franklin are always on the lookout for the top prospects. Even during their own season, they’re inviting players to games and attending games during the bye week. The 2025 recruiting class for Penn State has started off on the right foot with class leader Jaelyne Matthews, but they wish to add more players to this class. One player that would be a massive addition is Douglas Utu who is seriously considering Penn State.

Douglas Utu is an offensive tackle prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He is a four-star recruit on 247sports and is currently listed as the No. 1 prospect in the state. He currently attends Bishop Gorman High School and holds offers from Oklahoma, USC Oregon, Penn State, and other schools.

Recently, Rivals has given him a five-star rating which speaks to the type of prospect is becoming. It’s important to note by this time next year other recruiting outlets could possibly give him his 5th star as well.

At 6-5 270 pounds, it’s easy to see why most Power Five programs are after Douglas Utu. The Penn State coaching staff has built this relationship with Utu for several years now. The Nittany Lions initially offered him back on April 11th, 2022.

If the Penn State coaching staff can work their magic with Utu him and current 2025 commit Jaelyne Matthews could be a two-headed monster on the offensive line. Matthews has recently announced that he will be in attendance for the West Virginia game. Hopefully, the atmosphere will remind Jaelyne Matthews just how passionate the Penn State fanbase is.
