Official visits are scheduled to get underway this weekend. Prospects from all over the country will get a chance to visit schools for most likely the final time ahead of making their final decision. Some prospects have the next three to four weeks mapped out, while others are staying flexible. The Penn State football team has now secured an official visit with Rowan Byrne of the 2025 recruiting class. If the Nittany Lions can make a great impression, it could lead to a commitment from a top-three prospect in New York.

Rowan Byrne is a four-star prospect according to Rivals. The 6-4, 285-pound interior offensive line prospect from New Rochelle, New York. He is a member of the 2025 recruiting class and attends Iona Preparatory School. According to the On3 Industry Ranking Bryne is the No. 3 prospect in New York and the No. 49 interior offensive linemen in the country.

Michigan, Rutgers, Flordia State, and Penn State are all in the hunt for this talented prospect. But on Tuesday evening Byrne announced that he would be taking an official visit to Happy Valley. It’s the school he has visited the most with six visits already taken and the official will make it seven.

Teaming up with another New York prospect?

While Rowan Byrne ranks as a top-three prospect in New York, a Nittany Lion commit ranks ahead of him. That of course is Lyrick Samuel a 6-4 wide receiver who continues to stand out at various camps. He has won the Next Up Under Armour Camp MVP and has impressed at the All 22 /Elite 11 event in State College a few weeks ago.

While Samuel is listed as the No. 2 prospect in New York according to On3, they also hold him as a three-star talent. Samuel ranks as the No. 82 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle. Expect that to change as he continues to turn heads in front of national scouts. If Byrne’s official visit goes well, Penn State could have two New Yorkers in the 2025 cycle when it’s all said and done.
