When it comes to Penn State football, two of the hottest names on the market right now are Drew Allar and Ethan Grunkemeyer. On one hand, there’s the Nittany Lions’ massive 6-foot-5 former five-star quarterback, who is likely heading into his first year as Penn State’s starter this fall. On the other hand, there’s the Nittany Lions’ new quarterback commit, a three-star Ohio prospect who is swiftly rising through the ranks of the 2024 class.

Today, new video was released of the two Penn State quarterbacks running through passing drills, and it would be an understatement to say that the film was impressive.

WATCH: Two Penn State football QBs sling it around

Here is the video, released today, of Drew Allar and Ethan Grunkemeyer running through passing drills together. Needless to say, it appears that the future is quite bright for the Nittany Lions’ QB room.

Drew Allar facing large expectations this year

After sitting behind Sean Clifford during the 2022 Penn State football season, which concluded with an 11-2 record and a Rose Bowl win, Drew Allar is poised to take over as the Nittany Lions’ full-time starting quarterback this fall.

Technically, the former five-star rising sophomore QB has not been named the starter just yet. However, all signs point to Allar getting the nod for Penn State’s Week 1 matchup against West Virginia.

Ethan Grunkemeyer rising in the rankings, impressing the nation

Many Penn State football fans rolled their eyes when the Nittany Lions landed Ethan Grunkemeyer. This reaction was largely due to Grunkemeyer being a three-star player, while many fans had hoped for a four or five-star recruit. However, it is highly likely that Grunkemeyer will ascend to that higher rating by the time the class signs next year.

He is regarded as one of the most talented players in his class, as evidenced by his recent invitation to the Elite 11 finals, where he competed against strong competitors. It’s worth noting that Grunkemeyer shares the same QB coach as Drew Allar, which should further emphasize the Nittany Lions’ chemistry and their ability to develop quarterbacks in the coming years.
