This weekend, Penn State football recruiting will be kicking off the official visit season on June 2nd by hosting a number of top-ranked recruits. According to the ON3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Nittany Lions are heavily trending to land three of their top visitors and will likely make a strong push to secure all three in their impressive top-10 recruiting class.
2024 Penn State football recruiting class after May
Penn State football recruiting is starting to close in on a number of top-ranked targets in the 2024 recruiting class, but before we dive into that, let’s take a quick look at where the class stands so far. Currently, the Nittany Lions’ 2024 recruiting class ranks among the nation’s top 10 classes with an impressive 14 hard commits. It comes in at No. 7 in the composite rankings and is comprised mostly of four-star recruits.
So far, Penn State football has one quarterback, one running back, one receiver, four offensive linemen, two linebackers, three defensive backs, and two special teams contributors in their class. Despite the class’s impressive status, the Nittany Lions are still playing catch-up to the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes, which has been apparent on the field as well.
Jaylen Harvey
The first recruit that Penn State football recruiting will be looking to lock down is four-star EDGE Jaylen Harvey, a top-ranked defensive target from Maryland. According to the Industry Rankings, Harvey is the No. 23 defensive end and No. 10 recruit in Maryland. He is a major target for the Nittany Lions and has a 92.4% chance of landing in the Blue and White, according to the RPM.
Jaylan Hornsby
Jaylan Hornsby is another top-ranked target who is leaning heavily toward committing to Penn State football. The Nittany Lions currently have an 82.7% advantage, and if successful, they could add this major four-star target to their 2024 class this weekend. Hornsby is one of the higher-ranked recruits who will be in Happy Valley from June 2nd-4th, ranking No. 60 among wide receivers and No. 5 among recruits in the state of New Jersey.
Xavier Gilliam
The final recruit that I wanted to cover in this piece is three-star 2024 EDGE Xavier Gilliam, who, like the other two, has great odds of committing to Penn State football. Right now, the Nittany Lions have an 84.8% chance of securing him, and there will be no better time to make a massive push than during his official visit this weekend. The Industry Rankings have Gilliam ranked as the No. 48 EDGE recruit and No. 19 among recruits in the state of Maryland.
