Recruiting is a challenge for every school especially when it’s the following cycle. The Penn State football team is putting all of its energy and effort into landing the top 2025 prospects. But, at the same time, the Nittany Lions are prospecting and recruiting prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. Penn State holds one commit in the 2026 cycle from RB Messiah Mickens who just picked up a new scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs.

Recent National Champions offers Penn State football commit

Messiah Mickens from Camp Hill, PA is listed as the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 5 running back in the 2026 recruiting class according to On3. 247Sports lists Mickens as the No. 1 player in PA. He made his commitment to the Penn State football team on August 19th, 2023. Since then he has proven his loyalty to the Nittany Lions time and time again. In the past few months, he has picked up offers from Wisconsin, Oregon, and Notre Dame.

Now, the 2022 National Champions the Georgia Bulldogs have offered Mickens a scholarship. Mickens shared on social media stating, “#AGTG Beyond blessed to receive an offer from the University of Georgia.”

While Georgia missed the college football playoff last season they are still regarded as one of if not the best teams in college football. From resources to elite coaches, this certainly makes the decision even more challenging for Messiah Mickens.

Mickens and his loyalty to Penn State

This isn’t the first time a big school has offered the Penn State commit. Rumors swirled a few months ago that USC and Michigan were making heavy pushes for Mickens, but he shut them down on social media.

While it may make some Nittany Lion fans nervous keep in mind Mickens has visited Happy Valley 13 times during his recruitment. The latest visit came this past weekend when he was in State College for the Blue-White Game. Offers are always going to come in for the top talent, but Mickens continues to stay committed to James Franklin.
