Penn State Wrestling is one of the most dominant teams in all of college sports. The back-to-back defending national champions look to 3-peat for the third time in the Cael Sanderson era as the head coach of the Nittany Lions. Penn State Wrestling now knows their TV schedule for the 2023/24 season.

Season Expectations

This could be one of the most dominant teams that we have seen in the Cael Sanderson era. Penn State has all 10 wrestlers ranked within the top 30 of their weight classes in the preseason InterMat rankings. Eight of those wrestlers are ranked in the top 5 and four are ranked No. 1 in their respective weight classes. Currently, the tournament point projections have the Nittany Lions at 141.5 with second place being a tie between Missouri and Virginia Tech each with 65. The most points the Nittany Lions have ever scored in the NCAA Tournament was 146.5 in 2017. Penn State picked up 5 individual nation champions that season in addition to the team title. The all-time NCAA Tournament points record is 170 by Iowa in 1997. This team has the talent to get close to that record if healthy.
