Penn State wrestling kicks off the 2023-24 season with two road invitationals, with the Journeymen Collegiate Classic in Bethlehem on November 12 and the Army Black Knight Invite in West Point, NY, on November 19. But shortly thereafter, Nittany Lions fans will get treated to a special event themselves, as several prominent Penn State wrestlers will be competing in the NWCA All-Star Classic in Rec Hall in late November.

What is the NWCA All-Star Classic?

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) will be holding its All-Star Classic on November 21 in State College, PA. The event will take place at historic Rec Hall, starting at 7:00 pm ET, and will broadcast exclusively on FloWrestling.

The classic will feature 10 highly ranked men’s NCAA Division 1 folkstyle matchups. Four women’s crossover matches between the NCAA and NAIA will also take place.

Penn State wrestling to feature 6 for All-Star Classic in Rec Hall

Cael Sanderson and Penn State wrestling will have 6 representatives among the 10 matchups. All 6 Nittany Lions wrestlers will be featured in top 4 matchups.

Bernie Truax and Greg Kerkvliet will wrestle in a No. 1 vs No. 2 match. This will be a great opportunity to start the defense of their titles for Carter Starocci and Aaron Brooks. It will also be a test for wrestlers such as Shayne Van Ness and Levi Haines to see where they stand in the national title race at their respective weight classes.
