One of the most decorated wrestlers in American history with connections to the Penn State wrestling community is facing charges for engaging in prostitution after being arrested over the weekend.
On Friday, former Ohio State three-time national champion, Olympic Gold Medalist, and NLWC member Kyler Snyder was arrested in Columbus during a prostitution sting. According to 10 WBNS in Columbus, Snyder was one of 16 men arrested in an undercover operation conducted by the Columbus Police’s Police and Community Together (PACT) unit. The men were caught after responding to internet escort ads.
Snyder was arrested by uniformed officers at a Columbus hotel shortly after responding to one of the online ads. He was released from custody at the scene and will appear in court on May 19.
The only wrestler to win an Olympic Gold Medal, a World Championship, and a NCAA title in the same year, Snyder joined the NLWC in 2019.
“It’s had a great impact,” Snyder said of the move last year. “It was kind of a crazy story. My wife was applying to medical school all over the place. And then I was gonna go wherever she got into school. And then she told me she wanted me to go to the best training situation. So it was pretty easy to see that the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club was the strongest place I could go. And then so, we just moved, you know, and it worked out great. She ended up getting into med school, too, so it was a blessing.”
Two weeks ago, Snyder won the US Open Championship at 97 kg. He recently signed on to compete in Real American Freestyle, the first pro freestyle wrestling league.
