The jump makes the Penn State football commit one of the fastest risers in the new recruiting rankings.

Penn State QB commit Ethan Grunkemeyer is quickly becoming a rising star in the class of 2024. In mid-June, Grunkemeyer earned his fourth star from 247Sports recruiting evaluators while climbing almost 400 spots in the process. Today, the Penn State football commit took another massive jump in the eyes of the recruiting industry, becoming one of the biggest risers in the newly released On300 rankings.

Penn State QB commit now No. 176 in On300 rankings

Ethan Grunkemeyer’s rapid rise has been due in part to a stellar summer of work from the Olentangy (Ohio) prospect. The Penn State QB commit excelled during the Elite 11 showcase in June. Grunkemeyer was named the Day One MVP and was a top three overall performer at the camp, according to On3.

And apparently, On3’s talent evaluators took notice. Grunkemeyer became one of the fastest risers in today’s newly released On300 rankings, climbing over 150 spots from outside the top 300 to No. 176 overall. “Ethan Grunkemeyer proved he deserves to be considered one of the best quarterback prospects in the country,” On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire writes. “He did this by showing off his skillset at the Elite 11 Finals this summer where he, along with 19 other talented quarterbacks, arrived in Los Angeles to compete for a chance to be named Elite 11 MVP.”

Bellaire went on to commend Grunkemeyer’s frame and arm talent. According to the evaluation, Grunkemeyer’s arm strength and ball placement stood out on all three days of the Elite 11 camp. “We expect him to take a big step forward in his development during his senior season, and we would not be surprised to see him put up some gaudy numbers for Olentangy High,” the writeup concludes.

Ethan Grunkemeyer is now a top-10 QB in the 2024 cycle

With the updated On300 rankings, Ethan Grunkemeyer is now a top 10 QB in the class of 2024 in On3’s eyes. The Penn State commit now comes in as the 10th-best QB in the country for this cycle. It goes without saying that this is a massive step up for Grunkemeyer, who was previously outside On3’s top 300 prospects.

Grunkemeyer’s rise in the last several months has been impressive, given that he was a little-known three-star prospect he committed to Penn State football in May. With an entire senior season left to play, I think it’s safe to say that we haven’t seen an end to the rise of Ethan Grunkemeyer.
