Although the 2024 Penn State football recruiting class has not been finalized, it’s never too early to look toward the 2025 recruiting class. Clearly, the coaching staff is focused on the task at hand while preparing for the future. The 2025 Penn State recruiting class currently has three commitments. On Thursday evening it was announced that Penn State football has a new scholarship offer for 2025 wide receiver Vernon Allen.

Penn State football offers 2025 wide receiver Vernon Allen

Wide receiver Vernon Allen shared on social media that he has officially received a scholarship offer from Penn State. He stands a 6’3 185 lbs and is a three-star prospect from Baltimore, Maryland according to 247sports. Other Power Five offers that Allen has are from Michigan, UNC, Boston College, Duke, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia at this time.

When you turn on the tape immediately he showcases a similar skillset that recent 2024 Penn State WR commit Peter Gonzalez has. Great burst off the line of scrimmage and has the ability to highpoint the ball to secure a catch. It’s clear that wide receivers coach Marques Hagans is targeting big-bodied receivers that can win the 50/50 jump-ball scenarios. He’s not one-dimensional either, Allen has great agility and breakaway speed as well.

Current Penn State 2025 commitments

As I mentioned earlier, the 2025 recruiting class has three commitments at this time. They include four-star OT Jaelyne Matthews, four-star running back KiAndre Barker and three-star safety Omari Gaines. These players are going to see ranking increases after they finish their junior season which will lead to additional schools making contact and trying to persuade their commitment choice, it will be up to the Penn State coaching staff to have continued engagement with these players over the next several months.
