It’s one thing for a player to make progress in his career. It’s another to go from a walk-on to a scholarship linebacker on the Penn State football team. Then, it’s another massive milestone to become a team captain and a key contributor for the Nittany Lions. That’s where senior linebacker Dominic DeLuca finds himself this season. During his media availability on Wednesday, he opened up about his thoughts on freshman linebacker Tony Rojas.

There’s something to be said about development when the player themselves has taken their game to the next level. Those players know exactly what it takes to become the best player they can be. For Tony Rojas his expectations were high after the 2023 Blue-White game and that has translated more during the regular season. After the first few games, LB Dominic DeLuca spoke about Rojas.

He said, “Yeah he’s getting better and he’s asking the right questions. He’s asking why, like why do I do this? Or why do I do this when this happens? I feel like he’s just understanding the game and picking it up very fast. He’s going to be a great player.”

Although he may not need to be an instant impact player, Rojas is leaning on the resources that he has at his disposal early in his Penn State football career.

What does Dom DeLuca expect from Iowa on Saturday?

With the whiteout game on the horizon, Dom DeLuca spoke about his expectations for the Iowa Hawkeyes plan of attack on offense.

He said, “They’re a hard-nosed football team. They like to run the ball and they’re just going to keep doing the same play over and over again, trying to wear you down. We are going to just try to do our jobs each week.”
