As we inch closer to the summer, some of the most important recruits have big decisions to make. Those recruits have a big opportunity to choose which schools they’d like to take official visits to. For 2025 recruiting class member De’zie Jones, he has chosen the Penn State football team to be his first official visit. The New Jersey wide receiver prospect has much to consider when he returns to Happy Valley. Most importantly, is Penn State the school he wants to spend his college career at?
Top WR prospect in NJ sets official visit with Penn State football
De’zie Jones is a four-star wide receiver prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. Jones is listed as the No. 4 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 16 wide receiver in the country. From Wayne, NJ, he plays his high school football at DePaul Catholic. Jones holds offers from Duke, Kentucky, Florida, Illinois, Penn State, and several other schools.
Jones was most recently on campus on October 28th, watching the Nittany Lions defeat Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers. Now, he has set his official visit to Penn State on June 21st, 247Sports reports.
Could Jones reunite with his high school teammate?
While De’zie Jones has a lot to consider over the next several months, a selling point of Penn State could be 2025 recruiting class member and current Nittany Lion commit Michael Troutman. A three-star offensive lineman prospect, Troutman could make Jones feel more comfortable having a familiar face on campus. Troutman also attends DePaul Catholic, so the two current teammates have an opportunity to reunite if Jones makes his commitment to Penn State.
