Penn State football is out to a roaring start in the 2027 recruiting cycle. But despite the Nittany Lions’ early momentum, the competition to land prized Pennsylvania prospect Maxwell Hiller is sure to be intense.

This week, the Coatesville offensive lineman announced his plans to visit Tennessee on May 31. The trip will be his first to Knoxville after earning an offer from the Volunteers in January.

Hiller has interest from over two dozen schools to date, including offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Michigan. He has visited South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Maryland since March, and last traveled to Happy Valley on April 12.

A potential five-star recruit, Hiller is among the top-ranked offensive linemen in the country for 2027. He is the Keystone State’s second-ranked prospect and the No. 34 player overall, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Penn State football has been viewed as the longtime frontrunner for Hiller’s commitment. The in-state standout picked up a prediction to join the Nittany Lions’ 2027 class from On3’s Steve Wiltfong in November.

The Nittany Lions hold commitments from Kemon Spell, Layton von Brandt, and Khalil Taylor in the 2027 cycle. The three-man class is ranked No. 2 nationally by 247Sports.
