The buzz surrounding Messiah Mickens has continued to grow in 2024. Mickens is currently the lone commitment for the Penn State football team in the 2026 recruiting class. But as the months go on more major college football programs have begun recruiting this talented prospect. With over a year and a half before his signing day Penn State will need to continue to fight to keep Mickens in Blue and White. Now, one of the newest members of the Big Ten, the Oregon Ducks, have offered Mickens a scholarship.

Messiah Mickens is a four-star running back recruit in the 2026 recruiting class. From Camp Hill, PA, Mickens made his commitment to the Penn State football team on August 1, 2023. Now, as we inch closer to the first anniversary of his pledge to the Nittany Lions he continues to pick up additional scholarship offers.

The latest have been from Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Mickens has now shared on social media that the Oregon Ducks have offered him a scholarship, as well. The Ducks will join the Big Ten starting this fall. Mickens has a lot to consider between now and his signing day.

Mickens’ recruiting ranking falls

It’s common this time of year for recruiting experts to re-evaluate talent. This could lead to players increasing or decreasing their overall ranking. Since his initial ranking was posted in September of 2023 Messiah Mickens has been a five-star prospect on 247Sports.

But, on Wednesday, his ranking was adjusted, and Mickens has fallen to a four-star prospect. He holds that ranking on Rivals, On3, and now 247Sports. Of course, this does not mean he cannot leap back into the five-star territory, but he has some work to do to regain that ranking.
