McKeesport (PA) star running back Kemon Spell continues to build his pedigree as one of the top high school recruits in the country. On Monday, the 2027 Penn State football commit earned an invitation to one of the most prestigious all-star events in high school football: the All-American Bowl.

Spell shared the news on social media Monday evening. He earned the invite after a breakout sophomore year in which he rushed for 1,681 yards (10.7 yards per carry) and 24 touchdowns.

Although he is only halfway through his high school career, Spell is already cementing his place among the nation’s top prospects. The 5-10, 195-pound rusher is now up to No. 7 in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2027 recruiting cycle. He remains the top running back in the class and the No. 1 recruit in the Keystone State.

The Nittany Lions were recently able to get Spell to shut down his recruitment and reaffirm his commitment to Penn State football, a critical move for James Franklin and new running backs coach Stan Drayton. Ex-Penn State assistant Ja’Juan Seider and Notre Dame had been pushing hard to flip his pledge.

“Love him. Getting to know him more,” Spell said of Drayton last month. “And I can’t wait to work with him.”

Spell is one of three early commitments for Penn State football in 2027. The Nittany Lions have the No. 1 class in the country per 247Sports, but are one of only four programs with commitments for the cycle.
