Penn State football is expected to host one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2025 recruiting cycle for its upcoming spring game. On Tuesday, top 30 recruit Trent Wilson announced his plans to visit Happy Valley for the Nittany Lions’ annual Blue-White Game on April 13. Wilson’s fourth trip to Penn State, James Franklin and Tom Allen will hope to keep the momentum going from the four-star defensive lineman’s most recent junior day visit in January.
2025 DL Trent Wilson locks in fourth visit to Penn State for April’s Blue-White Game
On Tuesday, 2025 Maryland defensive line prospect Trent Wilson announced his planned campus visits for the spring recruiting calendar. Wilson’s four scheduled visits will conclude with a return trip to Penn State for the Blue-White Game on April 13.
The Dr. Henry Wise High School product is already among the top defensive line targets for Penn State football in the 2025 recruiting cycle. On3 currently evaluates Trent Wilson as the No. 4 defensive lineman and the No. 26 overall prospect in his class. The top player in Maryland for 2025, the 6-3, 260-pound recruit included the Nittany Lions in his top eight on January 23.
Penn State football will have stiff competition for the elite prospect this spring. In addition to attending the Blue-White Game, Trent Wilson also has plans to visit Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Ohio State in March. Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, and Florida State are also among the schools vying for Wilson’s commitment.
Tom Allen left strong impression on top 30 prospect during most recent visit
Penn State football could be considered the leader in the running for Trent Wilson at the moment, with the elite defensive lineman visiting the Nittany Lions more than any other program. Wilson made unofficial visits for the West Virginia and Michigan games last fall. He also made the trip to Happy Valley for Penn State’s January 20 junior day.
It was during this most recent visit that the Penn State football coaching staff left a strong impression on Wilson. In particular, Wilson was quite fond of new Nittany Lions defensive coordinator Tom Allen.
“The new defensive coordinator is amazing,” Wilson said of Tom Allen following his visit. “He is involved heavily in the defensive line room and has a scheme for the defensive linemen to make plays.”
With its most recent commitment from wide receiver Lyrick Samuel on Monday, Penn State football now has the No. 5 class in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports.
The 2024 Blue-White Game will kick off inside Beaver Stadium at 2 p.m. on April 13.
