Penn State football holds one lone commit in the 2026 recruiting class. The prospect ranks as one of the top players in Pennsylvania and the country. This is running back Messiah Mickens. Who was known for bringing the crowd to their feet at Trinity High School over the past few seasons. This fall he will suit up for Harrisburg High School and look to continue his rise on the field. He returned to campus to visit the Nittany Lions on Friday and made his presence felt at a 7-on-7 event.
Messiah Mickens is a four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. He is the only hard commit in the 2026 cycle for the Nittany Lions. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Mickens is the No. 3 player in PA and the No. 8 running back in his cycle. He also holds the ranking as a top 70 prospect in the nation.
On Friday, he was seen on campus competing in a 7-on-7 event. Daniel Gallen of Lions247 captured Mickens running an in-breaking route to create separation against his defender. Mickens continues to show that he has value even outside of a traditional running back position.
A 2026 prospect to become familiar with
On June 15 following a prospect’s sophomore year of high school, college coaches can make direct contact with a player according to the NCAA. Whether that is a phone call, text message, direct message, etc. Jyron Hughley is a new name to become familiar with. He posted a graphic of “The vision is clear” that was made by the Penn State football team on Twitter / X on early Saturday morning.
Hughley is a Belle Glade, FL native and is a four-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. He is listed as an athlete on his recruiting profile, where he ranks as a top 25 athlete in the 2026 recruiting class. Hughley has taken two unofficial visits to Happy Valley, On October 29, 2022, and October 28, 2023.
