In April, Penn State football secured one of the gems of its 2024 recruiting class when it landed the commitment of Belle Vernon athlete Quinton Martin. One of the most dynamic playmakers in the 2024 cycle, Martin’s commitment significantly boosted the Nittany Lions’ recruiting class. As a result, Penn State has essentially remained in the top 10 of most national recruiting rankings since the spring. Now going into his senior season, Martin is looking to become one of the top prospects in the Big Ten, as recently the Penn State commit was ranked as one of the best 2024 recruits in the entire conference.
Penn State football commit Quinton Martin ranked as a top 2024 recruit in the Big Ten
Last week, Collin Ginnan of On3 published an analysis piece that looked at the top 10 2024 recruits in the Big Ten conference. Based on the On3 Industry Rankings, Martin comes in at No. 5 on the rankings. Martin’s dynamic playmaking takes center stage in the scouting summary included as part of the write-up.
“Quinton Martin is a big-play high school running back who has the skills and physical dimensions to project at a few different spots at the college level,” the summary says. “[Martin is] a threat to score on any play, regularly ripping off long runs and returns. Martin’s profile concludes by noting his talent, regardless of where the Penn State commit ends up playing in Happy Valley. “[He] has some genuine positional ambiguity but looks like a top prospect, regardless of where he ends up at the college level.
“Penn State has always been my dream school ever since I was a little boy. Ever since they started recruiting me, they’ve shown me nothing but how committed they are to me and my family and how they’re going to do anything to help me thrive at their university,” Martin told Rivals after his commitment in April.
Currently a four-star prospect, Quinton Martin is the top player in Pennsylvania for the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The composite ratings also have Martin as the third-best athlete and the No. 43 overall prospect in the country for this class.
The Penn State commit comes in as the fifth highest-rated recruit in the Big Ten behind a quartet of future Ohio State Buckeyes – Jeremiah Smith, Justin Scott, Mylan Graham, and Air Noland. Along with Bryce West, Ohio State has five of the 10 top players in the conference for this recruiting cycle. Michigan recruits Jordan Marshall and Jadyn Davis, Nebraska’s Carter Nelson, and USC’s Xavier Jordan round out the top 10.
