Most of the hype surrounding the official visits for the Penn State football team this summer has been focused on prospects on offense. But on that defensive side of the ball, the Nittany Lions are preparing to make a push to build the core that DC Tom Allen is looking for. Now, Penn State is set to host two of the best defenders in the 2025 recruiting class for official visits as Justin Hill and Max Granville have announced their plans to visit Happy Valley.

Justin Hill is a four-star edge rusher in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. From Cincinnati, OH, Hill is the No. 6 player in Ohio and the No. 12 edge rusher in the 2025 cycle. He is also a top 120 player nationally, and the Penn State football team is in serious contention for this prospect.

Replacing Chop Robinson and Adisa Isaac with Abdul Carter and Dani Dennis-Sutton should be a smooth transition for 2024. However, if both players choose to enter the NFL Draft after this season the 2025 edge rushers will play a large role in the future for the Nittany Lions.

Adding Hill would give Penn State ammunition for the future. It will start with his official visit which is scheduled for May 31. The Nittany Lions will need to fend off USC where he will visit officially in June.

Hill will be joined by Max Granville

Justin Hill won’t be the only 2025 recruiting class defender making their official visit the weekend of May 31st. He will be joined by fellow 2025 class member Max Granville who announced he will be at Penn State the same weekend on social media.

Max Granville is a 2025 four-star prospect who is listed as a linebacker. However, he possesses similar traits to Justin Hill and could be an edge rusher at the next level. Granville is listed at 6 foot 2 220 pounds and is listed as a LB/Edge on his recruiting profile.

He calls Sugar Land, TX his hometown and according to 247Sports, he is the No. 20 LB prospect in 2025. His father Billy Granville played his college football at Duke before playing in the NFL from 1997-2001 for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texas.
