We are learning more details about the premier matchup on the Penn State football home calendar as well as other early contests for the 2025 season. On Thursday, it was revealed that the Nittany Lions’ September 27 matchup against the Oregon Ducks will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.

In addition, we also learned the start times and broadcast details for the Nittany Lions’ three home non-conference matchups:

  • Week 1 – Nevada: 3:30 p.m. on CBS
  • Week 2 – FIU: Noon on BTN
  • Week 3 – Villanova: 3:30 p.m. on FS1

The Nittany Lions’ October 11 contest against Northwestern has also been announced as either a noon, 3:30, or 4 p.m. start on a to be determined network.

Penn State promptly announced that the primetime clash with the Ducks will be the program’s annual White Out matchup.

Of course, the matchup with Oregon is a rematch of last season’s Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis. The Nittany Lions battled back from an early 28-10 deficit before eventually falling to the then-top-ranked Ducks 45-37. Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton each rushed for 100 yards, while Drew Allar threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns.

Penn State football is 3-2 against Oregon since 1960. The late September matchup will be only the second meeting between the two programs in Happy Valley. Oregon won the first contest 22-14 in 1964.

Besides being one of the most significant weeks for Penn State in 2025, the matchup appears destined to be among the defining games of the entire college football season. Both the Nittany Lions and Ducks figure to be consensus top-10 teams heading into the fall. Gaining momentum coming out of the spring, Penn State has an opportunity to earn its first preseason No. 1 ranking since 1997 and its first top-five starting ranking since 1999.
