The Penn State football team has earned a new linebacker commitment from this Pennsylvania rising star. Could he end up putting together a career that is similar to Dom Deluca’s?

One week from today, the Penn State football team will have its 2024 class sign on National Signing Day. But before the Nittany Lions get to that point, they need to fill additional gaps on their roster. Not every player will be on scholarship for the Nittany Lions when they take the field in 2024. Some players have a different route, one that comes from the preferred walk-on method. Ahead of officially signing their full 2024 recruiting class, James Franklin has received a commitment from Beckham Dee.

Penn State football signs 2024 PWO linebacker from Pennsylvania

Beckham Dee is a 2024 linebacker from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He played his high school football at Mt.Lebanon High School, a place that the Penn State football team has become very familiar with. Dee started his career under head head Bob Palko who is now the director of high school player relations for Penn State.

He made his commitment to the Nittany Lions, but just because he is a preferred walk-on doesn’t mean Dee didn’t have big-time offers. Air Force, Army, and Toldeo, as well as several FCS schools, were after this athletic linebacker. Whenever James Franklin can keep a PA player in his home state, he will find a way to do so, and that’s what happened with Beckham Dee.

Can Dee follow Dom DeLuca?

Penn State linebacker Dom DeLuca also started his Nittany Lion career as a PWO. But that didn’t stop him from working hard and earning more opportunities on the field. Due to his hard work, at the end of the 2022 season, Penn State offered DeLuca a scholarship. If Beckham Dee puts in the time when he gets on campus, he could certainly follow in DeLuca’s footsteps.
