Penn State football continues to target dynamic playmakers for the future. The elephant in the room during the 2023 season was the inability of wide receivers to create separation or have consistency on the field. Marques Hagans and James Franklin will look to address that issue where the program was built, through the recruiting pipeline. Now, the Nittany Lions are in the hunt for 2025 recruiting class WR Taz Williams Jr.
Penn State football in pursuit of top 2025 WR prospect
Taz Williams Jr. is a four-star wide receiver from Red Oak, Texas. He is currently ranked as a top-40 prospect in Texas and the No. 30 WR in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He holds offers from Ohio State, Alabama, USC, Penn State, and several other schools. Williams stands at 5 foot 10 181 pounds and recently visited Penn State at the end of January.
Now, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Williams is down to his final 10 schools. He included Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Baylor, SMU, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Penn State in his list. If the Nittany Lions have a chance to secure him for an official visit this summer that could seriously help their efforts.
Wide receivers in 2024
While we wait for the 2025 recruiting class members to officially sign later this year what will the Nittany Lions look like on the field in 2024? Former Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming was brought in to bring leadership and guidance to the Penn State football WR room. I would expect Fleming to be WR No.1 this fall.
Additionally, KeAndre Lambert-Smith is returning for the Nittany Lions. While he held the WR 1 role last season, one would assume he and Fleming will be Drew Allar’s favorite targets in 2024. Behind them, expect to see more of Omari Evans, Kaden Saunders, and Liam Clifford to help boost the offensive production on the field this season.
