While Penn State football is usually out in front of a few hidden gems in each recruiting class, occasionally, the Nittany Lions fall slightly behind. Players can often boost their recruiting status after attending camps and competing against the best prospects in the country. That’s where Floyd Boucard finds himself, as the quick-rising DL in the 2025 recruiting recently added an offer from James Franklin and Penn State.
Penn State football offers scholarship to quick-rising 2025 DL
Floyd Boucard is a three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3 and Rivals. He is currently unranked on 247Sports and ESPN. Boucard is listed as a defensive lineman on every recruiting site; however, that does not tell the full story for this prospect. He is from Montreal, Canada, but has transferred to Miami Central before his senior season. Most of his statistics come from the defensive line position, but he also rotated at TE and RB, per 247Sports.
Boucard has started to attract some serious interest from schools all over the country. His offer list includes Oklahoma, USC, Louisville, Maryland, Missouri, and several other FBS programs. On Tuesday, he announced on social media that he received a new scholarship offer from Penn State football. If the Nittany Lions can get Boucard to campus it might not be too late to secure this quick riser.
Under Armour camp boosts Boucard’s notoriety
On March 3, Miami hosted an Under Armour camp where some of the top talent in the upcoming recruiting classes competed. Floyd Boucard boosted his recruiting stock at this event, which could have been the deciding factor for Penn State to make an offer.
According to Chad Powers of On3 in his Under Armour Miami Camp: Top Performers recap, Boucard just missed the On3 MVP. “Floyd Boucard was on a mission on Sunday,” Powers wrote. “The native Canadian was the top performer among linemen on the day and had a number of impressive wins in OL-DL 1-on-1’s. Boucard flashed excellent first-step quickness and active hands in quickly dispatching the majority of offensive linemen he faced.
“The quickness and violence on contact point to an ideal skill set for playing within tight quarters. The compactly built Boucard had a big junior season at Mobile (Ala.) Christian, notching 27 tackles for loss and 11 sacks before transferring to Miami (Fla.) Central. Boucard is set to take officials to Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Louisville.”
If Penn State can schedule an official visit, it still has a chance to land one of the hidden gems in the 2025 recruiting class.
