James Franklin and Penn State football are already cashing in on their White Out weekend, landing an elite 2027 prospect just before kickoff. Less than 90 minutes before the start of Saturday night’s game against Washington, the Nittany Lions landed Appoquinimink (DE) four-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt.

“I am thankful to all of the programs that have recruited me,” von Brandt wrote on X. “But when you know where home is…why wait? I am excited to announce I am 100% committed to [Penn State football].”

Measuring 6-6, 255 pounds, von Brandt is the fourth-ranked offensive tackle in the 2027 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. The Appoquinimink product comes in as Delaware’s top recruit and the No. 42 prospect for the cycle.

Layton von Brandt becomes the second 2027 commitment for James Franklin and Penn State football. He joins McKeesport running back Kemon Spell, who committed in August. The Nittany Lions are one of three programs in the country with commitments for the 2027 cycle.
