The Penn State football team has offered a former high school teammate of Nittany Lion QB Ethan Grunkemeyer. Following a successful camp and meeting with Tom Allen, Kaden Gebhardt has received a scholarship offer. The 2026 recruiting class member now has the opportunity to reunite with Grunkemeyer in Happy Valley potentially.

The 2026 recruiting class for the Penn State football team still holds one commitment. Messiah Mickens is the lone prospect for the Nittany Lions in that cycle. However, after these summer camps and visits conclude, Penn State will be in a strong position with several top recruits in the 2026 cycle.

One of those rising prospects is Kaden Gebhardt a four-star safety prospect from Olentangy High School. Home of current Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer. 247Sports ranks Gebhardt as the No. 8 player in Ohio in the 2026 recruiting class.

Following his second visit to Penn State where he attended a camp, Tom Allen offered him a scholarship, he announced on Twitter / X.

Grunkemeyer, Allar connected with Trace McSorley

While Ethan Grunkemeyer gears up for his true freshman campaign, he and Drew Allar share the same quarterback trainer. Brad Maendler has helped take both Nittany Lion QBs and elevated their game to the next level. However, in a recent workout, they were joined by one of Penn State’s all-time greats Trace McSorley.

McSorley continues to chase his dream of returning to the NFL after being released by the Steelers earlier this year. But it’s safe to say that he still can hang with the best of them, he just needs to find the right opportunity.
