Multiple Penn State defensive analysts to join Manny Diaz at Duke

Just when you thought the coaching turnover was over for the Penn State football team the hits keep coming. This time it’s Manny Diaz who is pulling two defensive analysts from Penn State to join him at Duke. Diaz has been actively putting his 2024 coaching staff together and has landed former Texas QB Maalik Murphy in the transfer portal. But most recently he has former defensive analysts for Penn State Gabe Infante and Rick Lyster joining him at Duke.

Multiple Penn State defensive analysts to join Manny Diaz at Duke

It was first reported by Matt Zenitz of 247sports that Manny Diaz will hire two defensive analysts from the Penn State football team to join him down at Duke. In a recent article Zenitz reported, “Penn State defensive analysts Gabe Infante and Rick Lyster are expected to be part of Manny Diaz’s staff at Duke, sources tell 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Infante, a longtime high school head coach in Pennsylvania, was an assistant at Temple before Penn State. Lyster has worked with Diaz since Diaz’ time as the head coach at Miami.”

Manny Diaz lands top quarterback in the transfer portal

A lot of people were questioning Manny Diaz and his decision to take the Duke head coach job. Well, he’s joining a team that is on the rise, however, their previous starting quarterback Riley Leonard entered the transfer portal and made his commitment to Notre Dame. Diaz was already behind the eight ball but he made quick work of finding his quarterback for the future.

The Blue Devils were able to sign Maalik Murphy from Texas who was one of the biggest named transfer quarterbacks available. Diaz is making quick work to make the Blue Devils competitive in 2024.
