Wide receiver Julian Fleming has been the talk of spring practices for the Penn State football team, largely because of Fleming returning home to Pennsylvania. There’s a certain amount of pride in being able to play for your home state, something ex-Nittany Lion linebacker Micah Parsons knows all about. Now, Fleming has revealed that Parsons reached out to welcome Fleming home.

Micah Parsons grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and played for Penn State football from 2018-2020. Parsons went on to be a first-round draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to the Dallas Cowboys, where he has more than proved his worth. He always makes it apparent to recognize James Franklin and Penn State whenever possible, as he has become a great ambassador of the university over the years.

Parsons has tried to keep strong relationships with recruits from Pennsylvania, and Julian Fleming was no different. Now, Fleming is wearing the Blue and White, and has spoken about his interaction with Parsons since becoming a Nittany Lion.

“He just actually texted me the other day, saying he was happy to have me home,” Fleming said. “Just being able to have that prior relationship and people that have been here and being able to talk to them about Penn State football.”

Fleming opened up about his reason for transferring to Penn State

Julian Fleming has loads of experience under his belt from his Ohio State days. He has played with great quarterbacks and had some high-profile coaches. But after injuries and being in the shadow of other talented wide receivers, Fleming explained why he chose to come to Penn State.

“I just felt like I needed one more year to prove to myself who I am and prove to other people who I am,” said Fleming, who explained he was 50/50 on whether he would enter the transfer portal or declare for the NFL Draft. “So that’s why I was really excited to come here and come home.”
