Monday was one of the more important press conferences in recent memory for the Penn State football team. As James Franklin took the podium, many of the Penn State beat writers wanted to hear the answers to why Mike Yurcich was fired. While Franklin was willing to answer the questions he also became openly frustrated and annoyed with the lack of questions about the next opponent in Rutgers. This all goes back to Franklin’s awareness of these situations, but we will let you be the judge of this situation.
James Franklin frustrated with media over lack of Rutger questions
The Penn State football press conference on Monday was very interesting. To listen to James Franklin explain the rationale of why he fired Mike Yurcich. Everyone wanted to know the impact, what’re the next steps, etc. But at the end of the day Franklin wanted to move on to the next topic.
So, when the media continued to ask about Yurcich and the next offensive coordinator, at one point Franklin said, “At some point during this press conference I’d love to get a few questions about Rutgers.”
Look, at the end of the day, I get it. He wants to move on and talk about the task at hand, but this comes with the territory of being head coach. When a program-changing decision is made, the fans and the media need to understand the full thought process.
The best part came at the very end of the press conference when Franklin said his goodbye.
This makes it back-to-back interactions with the Penn State media where Franklin has been frustrated with the questions asked.
