A family member of Penn State football commit Bekkem Kritza says the 2025 quarterback is staying put in south Florida, shooting down reports from earlier in the week that the Nittany Lions pledge was set to leave Miami Central High School midseason.

Kritza’s aunt, Liza Kritza, told Andy Villamarzo of SBLive that the rumors of her nephew’s pending transfer from Miami Central were false. The original reports that emerged on Wednesday indicated that Kritza was set to transfer to Santa Margarita High School in California. Kritza previously played at Santa Margarita during the 2022 season.

However, other reports suggested Kritza was returning to his native Colorado, where he played for Fairview High School last fall before transferring to Miami Central

Bekkem Kritza is a three-star prospect and the No. 38 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to On3’s Industry Rankings. He committed to James Franklin and Penn State football last November.

Currently, Kritza is the only quarterback in the Nittany Lions’ 25-man class, which grew by two recruits this week with the addition of three-star receiver Matthew Outten and four-star offensive lineman Malachi Goodman. Penn State football sits at No. 16 in On3’s 2025 recruiting cycle rankings.
