While much of the attention to start the week had been focused on those players leaving the Penn State football program via the transfer portal, James Franklin and the Nittany Lions made a splash addition at a key position on Monday. Penn State is adding a top-end talent from a Big Ten rival, as former USC wide receiver Kyron Hudson became the Nittany Lions’ first portal pickup.

Hudson announced his commitment to Penn State football via social media on Monday night. The ex-Trojan is currently on a visit in Happy Valley after entering the transfer portal on December 5.

Hudson is coming off his most productive year in Los Angeles, catching 38 passes for 462 yards and three touchdowns. Over four seasons at USC, the Duarte, California, native collected 70 receptions for 803 yards and eight scores.

A significant addition for the Nittany Lions offensive efforts in 2025, Hudson is the first commitment in a busy week of portal recruiting for James Franklin and Penn State football.

Over the weekend, the Nittany Lions hosted one-time USC and Georgia tackle Bear Alexander, former Texas A&M edge Enai White and ex-Louisiana Tech defensive lineman David Blay.

The Blue and White will look to continue adding out wide later this week, when the program hosts former ex-Ball State and Eastern Illinois receiver Justin Bowick and ex-FIU standout Eric Rivers starting Wednesday.
