It’s officially whiteout week for the Penn State football team. All focus turns towards the No. 24 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes and the big game Saturday night. This is the first time in 2023 that the Nittany Lions will play a ranked team. After a strong road win over Illinois, Penn State is a heavy favorite early this week.

Penn State football opens as the favorite over Iowa

For your gambling fill, the Penn State football team is the early favorite in their upcoming game against Iowa. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Nittany Lions are a 14.5-point favorite heading into this game. Now, that is an accumulation of Penn State playing at home and this game happens to be a whiteout. But it’s the same point spread that this team was favored by before last week’s game against Illinois. The Nittany Lions covered that line winning by 17 points.

Iowa was supposed to be a much-improved team offensively this year. They were not able to display that dominance until last week when they beat Western Michigan 41-10. The Michigan transfer Cade McNamara is now the starting quarterback for Iowa but he has not impressed so far. Through three games he has thrown for 417 yards to go along with 4 touchdown passes and 3 interceptions this season.

The under could be in play

The over-under is currently set at 41.5 points and that should continue to drop this week. It appears that there will be heavy rain ahead of and during the game on Saturday night. With the possibility of a heavy dose of running the football and should lead to few points scored from either team. Penn State will need to practice ball security this week as one turnover could swing this game.
