Penn State football has been one of the clear winners of the spring transfer portal window. But the Nittany Lions were not destined to come out on top of with all the program’s top transfer targets this spring.
On Friday, former Rutgers linebacker Mohamed Toure committed to Miami, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Toure was a two-time team captain for the Scarlet Knights and an All-Big Ten selection in 2023.
The brother of Nittany Lions redshirt freshman safety Vaboue Toure, the standout Scarlet Knight visited Happy Valley last week.
The No. 2 available linebacker in the spring portal window, Toure was also considering Indiana before choosing the Hurricanes. Miami’s new defensive coordinator, Corey Hetherman, coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.
On Tuesday night, Penn State football landed ex-North Carolina linebacker Amare Campbell from the portal. The junior was the top available transfer linebacker this spring, according to On3.
Campbell will provide needed experience to a young Penn State linebacker room in 2024. Dom DeLuca, Tony Rojas, DaKaari Nelson, and Keon Wylie are the only Nittany Lion linebackers currently on the roster to appear in double-digit games.
