Could Micah Parsons soon be making a return to PA?

Micah Parsons released a firestorm on Friday afternoon, going public with his demand for a trade from the Dallas Cowboys after contract negotiations broke down this week. The Penn State football icon is expected to become one of the highest-paid players in NFL history, but the question remains whether that will be in the Lone Star State or somewhere else.

Could one of the potential landing spots for the NFL superstar be in his native Pennsylvania? There’s certainly plenty of speculation that Parsons could be eyeing a return to the Keystone State.

After Parsons announced his trade request on social media, a quote from Eagles star receiver AJ Brown resurfaced online, suggesting back in February that the Cowboy wants to cross enemy lines and play for Philadelphia. Of course, such a move would make Parsons teammates with fellow Nittany Lions great Saquon Barkley.

However, while not impossible, a blockbuster deal between divisional foes and fierce rivals would seem to be unlikely.

On the other side of the state, there is some evidence to suggest that Pittsburgh could be a preferred destination for the former Nittany Lion. Parsons went on the record last summer expressing his interest in playing for the Steelers later in his career, due in part to head coach Mike Tomlin.

While it remains to be seen if the Cowboys will even consider sending their star edge rusher elsewhere, what’s clear is that the relationship between Parsons and the front office in Dallas appears to be broken beyond repair.

“Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here,” Parsons wrote online. “I no longer want to be held to close-door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans, and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me.”
