It’s expected that the top players in the country will continue to receive additional offers throughout their recruiting journey. For Penn State football commit Messiah Mickens that continues to be the case. Although he is committed to the Nittany Lions other schools continue to knock on the door and offer Mickens a scholarship. Now, it’s the Wisconsin Badgers who are after the five-star running back who is also the No.1 player in PA in the 2026 recruiting class.

Penn State 5-star commit picks up offer from Big Ten foe

Messiah Mickens made his pledge to the Penn State football team on August 19th, 2023. Since then his recruiting ranking has continued to skyrocket. According to 247Sports Mickens is a five-star prospect, the No. 1 player in PA, and the 23rd player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class.

Since he has made his commitment rumors have swirled that both USC and Michigan were trying to flip Mickens away from Penn State. However, he shared a message on social media that made the Nittany Lion faithful feel at ease. Now, Mickens has reported on social media that he has picked up a new scholarship offer from Wisconsin.

Mickens set to return to Happy Valley

At the end of the day, it’s important to note that Mickens is still committed to Penn State. While other schools have knocked on his door over the past several months he has not wavered in his commitment. Mickens proves that point once again this weekend as he is set to return to Happy Valley to continue to build his relationship with James Franklin and the other Nittany Lion coaching staff members.

As long as Messiah Mickens is committed to the Nittany Lions there is nothing to worry about. Of course, schools will come knocking at the door, but so far Mickens has not wavered in his dedication to Penn State.
