The Penn State football team was able to develop depth for last week against Kent State. That depth will be tested as the season goes on. But we did see a few Nittany Lions deal with apparent injuries against the Golden Flashes last Saturday, With no update from James Franklin on Cam Wallace, Dom DeLuca, or Abdul Carter we now have clarity as the injury report has been released.

We saw running back Cam Wallace get his first significant game action last Saturday. But it was cut short due to an injury suffered in the fourth quarter against Kent State. Dom DeLuca exited the Kent State game in the first quarter and did not return and Abdul Carter appeared to do the same in the third quarter last week. Now, that the injury report has been released, let’s see which Nittany Lions are in or out tonight.

Now that we know the status of Dom DeLuca, there is still an expectation that Anthony Speca will see the field tonight against Illinois. Earlier this week James Franklin explained the role that Speca could play tonight.

“We’ll plan on using [Anthony] Speca this week,” Franklin said Wednesday night following practice. “If we’re in that situation he would get green-lighted for this game. Not necessarily for the season at this point. He was a guy who was able to play last week and we’re preparing him this week as a guy who’s ready to go as well.”
