The Penn State football team had a historic day on Saturday against Kent State. But on the other hand, will the AP Poll voters deem it as just another win against a lesser opponent? They certainly will be challenged next week against Illinois. Now, ahead of week five of the college football season, a new poll has been released. Where did the voters rank the Nittany Lions this week?

Around the college football world, it was business as usual for the most part. Besides for Missouri, who needed a missed field goal from Vanderbilt to secure a close SEC win. Tennessee went on the road and welcomed Oklahoma to the SEC. The nightcap left Kansas State fans disappointed after losing to BYU 31-9. On top of that, the Penn State football team dominated Kent State 56-0 breaking multiple school records along the way.

Now, the latest edition of the AP Poll has been released. Where Penn State climbed to No. 9 this week.

Directly following the Kent State game, James Franklin spoke to the media where he asked for the Nittany Lion faithful to bring the energy next Saturday night in Beaver Stadium.

“We need this place rocking next week, Franklin said. “I’m calling for White Out energy.”

It’s an interesting comment from Franklin as the game against Illinois is not the annual White Out game. Instead, the game against Illinois will serve as homecoming for Penn State.
