Penn State football is down two defenders less than a week into 2024 training camp. First reported by Greg Pickel of BlueWhite Illustrated Saturday morning, sophomore defensive end Jameial Lyons and redshirt freshman linebacker Kaveion Keys are no longer with the Nittany Lions program.

Per Pickel’s report, neither Lyons nor Keys are still enrolled at the university, confirmed by a Penn State football spokesperson. Neither is on an updated version of the Penn State football roster.

On Wednesday, reports surfaced that the pair of Nittany Lion defenders had been placed on interim suspension from the program while handling a personal matter.

Jameial Lyons played in eight games during his true freshman season last fall, recording six tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Kaveion Keys maintained his redshirt, making one tackle in two games.

Penn State football will host its annual local media day on Saturday, starting with a press conference with James Franklin at 12:15 PM. It will be the first time Franklin has addressed the media since fall camp has begun and the situation became public.

Media sessions with the Nittany Lions coordinators, including new defensive coordinator Tom Allen, will begin around 12:50 PM.
