Matt McGloin is returning to college football and is doing so with a familiar face. On Monday night, Pete Thamel reports that the ex-Nittany Lions quarterback is being hired by former Penn State football coach Bill O’Brien as an offensive analyst on the Boston College staff.
Rumors of the potential move first circulated late last week after McGloin resigned from his post as a Lackawanna County (PA) Commissioner. “This was not an easy decision to make. But I have to do what’s best for my family and explore other options outside of county government,” he wrote in his resignation letter. “Lackawanna County always will be my home, and I will bring a part of home with me where this journey may take me.”
McGloin last appeared in professional football in 2020, suiting up for the New York Guardians of the XFL before the league suspended operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was signed by four teams during his six-year NFL career, but spent most of his time with the then-Oakland Raiders.
