Penn State quarterback Drew Allar prepares to throw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Theo Johnson in the second half of an NCAA football game against Indiana at Beaver Stadium Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, in State College, Pa. The Nittany Lions won, 33-24.

Fall camp has officially come to a close for the Penn State football team. Now, the attention focuses on installing offenses and defenses to prepare for West Virginia. But before the Nittany Lions get too far away from fall camp the Kings of Camp have been announced. The Touchdown Kings were Drew Allar and Luke Reynolds and the Takeaway Kings were Cam Miller, Zakee Wheatley, Kolin Dinkings, and Dejuan Lane.

Drew Allar enters his junior season this fall with the Penn State football team. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. He will either succeed in performing in big-time games or he will be ridiculed if he does not. We’re still nine days away from West Virginia, but an announcement from the Penn State football social media team on Wednesday shows that Allar did well in fall camp.

He was awarded as one of the Touchdown Kings of fall camp. The other player who earned the award was true freshman tight end Luke Reynolds. He carries high expectations with his five-star recruiting status. Although Tyler Warren will lead the Nittany Lions at TE this fall, if Reynolds can break into the rotation, Penn State can have another weapon on its hands.

On the other side of the ball, it was two familiar faces and two new faces who earned the honor of the Takeaway Kings of fall camp. Both Cam Miller and Zakee Wheatley are projected to play major roles on the field this fall.

Miller is expected to be a starter on the Nittany Lion defense this fall whereas Wheatley will be in the rotation at safety. Last season although he didn’t start on defense he appeared in all 13 games.

Kolin Dinkins is the brother of Khalil Dinkins who plays tight end for the Nittany Lions. Kolin was a force to be wrecked with during the Blue-White Game in April. Meanwhile, Dejuan Lane is also a true freshman who is looking to crack into the rotation this fall. While these awards might not translate to direct playing time, they do represent who stood out above the others on both sides of the ball.
