It’s hard to pinpoint the issues in an offense without knowing what’s going on behind the scenes. Many Penn State football fans questioned what was wrong with Nick Singleton, Kaytron Allen, the wide receivers, and the offense in general for most of the 2023 season. However, once Mike Yurcich was relieved of his duties, the offense seemed to come to life, especially in the run game. Now, with Andy Kotelnicki calling the plays for the Nittany Lions in 2024, Singleton recently expressed his thoughts about the new system.
Andy Kotelnicki’s creativity has Nick Singleton excited for 2024
Nick Singleton burst onto the scene during his true freshman season in 2022. Accounting for 1,061 yards and 12 touchdowns, Singleton was explosive and out-running defenders each game. In 2023 his numbers took a slight dip as he rushed for 752 and 8 touchdowns last season.
Of all the players on this roster, Singleton might be the most the one who benefits the most from the hiring of Andy Kotelnicki as the next Penn State football offensive coordinator. Last season Singleton grew as a receiving back as well. Accounting for a career-high 26 receptions, 308 yards, and 2 touchdowns, according to ESPN.
When asked about the addition of Andy Kotelnicki, Singleton said, “I saw the stats a little bit from Kansas, compared to what we did last year; that got me a little excited for that,” Nick Singleton said of Kotelnicki over the weekend. “[He does] a lot of creative stuff. I’m excited about that.”
Over the last two seasons, while the offensive coordinator Kansas has averaged 442 yards and 37.4 points per game. A big reason why all Penn State football fans should be excited for this upcoming season.
Nolan Rucci’s biggest challenge
Deciding which school you’d like to commit to might seem like a big challenge. Nolan Rucci has passed that hurdle after entering the transfer portal. However, now he faces his next challenge of putting on additional weight.
James Franklin recently commented on this, saying, “I think he got here at 299. I think he’s 305 right now. He’s still skinny because he’s all of 6’8. 6’8 isn’t always a positive if you can’t bend, but he can really bend he’s got tremendous athleticism…”
