Andy Kotelnicki isn’t going anywhere. After a week of speculation that he may be on the move to nearby West Virginia, the first-year Nittany Lions offensive coordinator expressed his commitment to remaining with the Penn State football program through the 2025 season.

“Beyond lucky to be a part of the Penn State football family,” Kotelnicki wrote on X Monday. “Still a lot to accomplish this season, and I am looking forward to what 2025 has in store for our program!”

Kotelnicki emerged as a candidate of interest for the Mountaineers position early last week. After being tabbed as a finalist in the hours leading up to the Nittany Lions’ Big Ten Championship appearance on Saturday, he reportedly interviewed with the West Virginia administration over the weekend.

Since arriving in Happy Valley during the offseason, Kotelnicki has led an impressive turnaround of the Penn State offense. The Nittany Lions are averaging 449 yards per game, an improvement of nearly 50 yards from a season ago. Going into conference championship weekend, Penn State football was No. 5 in the country in explosive play percentage.

With its offensive coordinator back in the fold for 2025, James Franklin and Penn State can now prepare to shore up its personnel for next season. In addition to losing leading pass catcher Tyler Warren, the Nittany Lions could potentially lose even more of their offensive production if Drew Allar, Nicholas Singleton, or Kaytron Allen decide to leave Happy Valley a year early. The stability could also help the program recruit talent from the transfer portal, specifically at wide receiver.

Kotelnicki and the Nittany Lions offense now have their sights set on a College Football Playoff run. Penn State football will host SMU in Beaver Stadium on December 21 for a first-round playoff matchup.
