The start of the 2025 Penn State football season is rapidly approaching as we turn the calendar to July. On Monday, we took another step toward kickoff with the Big Ten announcing the list of student-athlete representatives from each program that are scheduled to attend the 2025 Big Ten Football Media Days.

This year’s media days will again follow a three-day format, occurring from July 22-24 in Las Vegas. The Nittany Lions will be among the six programs featured on day two of the event. Joining James Franklin out west will be quarterback Drew Allar, along with center Nick Dawkins and safety Zakee Wheatley.

In addition to providing potential insight into the leadership of this year’s team, media days will provide our first formal opportunity to check in with Nittany Lion players since April’s Blue-White Game. Following the spring scrimmage, Allar highlighted the importance of the summer for developing chemistry with the offense’s weapons.

“This is a huge time of year for us as our offense, especially skill-wise,he said. This is the time where we installed all this stuff that we did throughout spring, and now we can, again, peel it back, watch it, and then go out and run it.

“So, we have a ton of time to really get better at this because obviously [we have] summer classes and summer workouts, but we’ll be able to spend a lot of time together throwing, and we already have that stuff mapped out with the strength staff. So we’re making it as efficient as possible and also getting the most work out of it as we can.”

Penn State football will head to Las Vegas as one of the most talked-about programs of the college football offseason. With a wave of returning talent and a series of key transfer portal pickups, the Nittany Lions are eyeing their first top-five preseason ranking since 1999. Standing in the way of a return trip to Indianapolis and the Big Ten Championship Game will be familiar foes, like Ohio State, as well as the conference’s defending champion, Oregon.
