Abdul Carter is hoping to be the first overall pick in next week’s NFL Draft. Regardless of when he hears his name called, the former star Penn State football edge rusher will be one of the few prospects who will walk across the stage in Green Bay and shake commissioner Roger Goodell’s hand in person.
On Monday night, the NFL announced the on-site attendees for the 2025 Draft. Carter will be only one of 17 players to make the trek to Wisconsin for the event. Other notable names include Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
“I always wanted to walk that stage,” Carter said previously. “It’s been a dream of mine. So, just be able to walk that stage, shake the commissioner’s hand, hold up the jersey. That’s been a dream for me.”
Mackey Award-winning tight end Tyler Warren was also invited to attend the Draft but was not among the in-person attendees announced on Monday.
“I think having my family around is really important. And my grandparents can’t travel around as easy,” he said. “To do it at home, so they can be there since they weren’t able to come up to any Penn State games, is kind of a big reason I really want to do it at home.”
Both Carter and Warren are comfortably projected to be top-10 selections. The most recent mock Draft from Pro Football Focus has Carter going fourth overall to the New England Patriots. Warren is slotted three picks later, going No. 7 to the New York Jets.
The 2025 NFL Draft will begin next Thursday, April 24.
