Star Penn State football edge rusher Abdul Carter appears set to take the step to the next level.

Hours after the Nittany Lions’ 2024 season came to an end with a 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl on Thursday night, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is reporting that the junior defensive end is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Penn State consensus All-American defensive end Abdul Carter has entered the 2025 NFL Draft and hired Drew Rosenhaus, Robert Bailey, and Jason Rosenhaus to represent him,” Schefter wrote on X Friday morning.

“I expect Abdul will be one of the top picks of this draft and a future All-Pro,” Rosenhaus told ESPN.

Carter finished with five tackles in Thursday’s College Football Playoff Semifinal, including one sack, two tackles for loss, and one quarterback hurry.

“Abdul, I’m really proud of him. He gutted it out today, showed tremendous mental and physical toughness and was disruptive in the game,” James Franklin said Thursday of Carter’s ability to battle through a shoulder injury sustained during last week’s Fiesta Bowl.

Abdul Carter becomes the second Nittany Lion to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, following safety KJ Winston, who announced his decision in December.

Carter’s Penn State football career ends with 172 tackles, 39.5 tackles for loss, and 23 sacks over 42 games.
