To be able to have one star-caliber running back on your roster is one thing, but to be able to recruit two in the same class is incredible. That’s where the Penn State football team has found themselves since the 2022 recruiting cycle. In that class running back Ja’Juan Seider was able to secure Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen who went on to have an impactful freshman campaign to put it lightly. Then, in 2023 they brought in Cam Wallace and London Montgomery who look to make an impact this fall. But looking beyond them, in 2024 Penn State holds commitments from Quinton Martin and Corey Smith who could be the next bright stars in Happy Valley.
Penn State football has a top-five 2024 RB duo according to Rivals
Recently, one of the top national recruiting analysts Adam Friedman from Rivals put together his top five 2024 running back groups based on current commitments. His top five included Georgia, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Texas, and Penn State.
Currently, the Penn State football 2024 recruiting class is ranked 8th overall in the country according to 247sports. The headline prospect is ATH Quinton Martin who will presumably play running back at Penn State. Martin is an explosive highly ranked four-star recruit from Belle Vernon, PA. What makes him unique is his versatility, not only is he a great running back but he also has return skills, he’s able to line up as a wide receiver and take jet-sweeps, plus he has shown off his blocking on tape. He is certainly in the conversation as one of the best running back prospects in the 2024 recruiting class. But his peer Corey Smith is equally as talented.
Don’t forget about Corey Smith in the 2024 class
The other four-star running back commit is Corey Smith who attends Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, WI. He is a high school teammate with a current 2024 Penn State OT commit Donovan Harbour. Smith has put the country on notice after he clocked in as one of the fastest high school prospects in the country. Quinton Martin has the finesse but Corey Smith brings the one-cut speed to take any play to the end zone in a blink of an eye.
