The Penn State football team has a new wide receiver target in the 2026 recruiting class they are pursuing. That player is Lavar Keys from Maryland. After a strong visit this past weekend, the Nittany Lions extended a scholarship offer to the rising prospect as they attempt to gather more targets for 2026 QB commit Troy Huhn.

Lavar Keys is a three-star wide receiver prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. On3 is the only recruiting site that has ranked Keys at this time. They rank him as the No. 9 player in Maryland and the No. 102 WR in the cycle. From Hyattsville (Maryland),

Keys holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, and has recently earned a scholarship from Penn State. That scholarship offer was given to him after his most recent visit to Happy Valley on July 27.

Keys recently connected with Blue White Illustrated to express his emotions about his scholarship offer from Penn State football.

“I was very excited. Penn State has been my dream school for years, especially since I’m named after LaVar Arrington. That’s just a blessing. Being able to be offered by Penn State was just amazing.”

Keys has potential to be teammates with LaVar Arrington II

While it might not be the person he’s named after, if Lavar Keys does choose to commit to Penn State football he will be able to call himself a teammate of LaVar Arrington II.

The son of LBU legend LaVar Arrington, the 2025 recruiting class commit made his pledge to the Nittany Lions on July 4. Arrington II recently received praise from his high school coach Dom Farrar who explained how versatile Arrington II is on the field.

“I’ve never seen an athlete in over 30 years be able to do what he does on the football field, especially on the defensive side of the field. Honestly, if we chose to, he’s a kid that could play every position on the field.”
